    SHIP provides information, counseling and assistance to Medicare Beneficiaries Nevada involving a statewide network of volunteers.

    SHIP Volunteers offer FREE one-on-one assistance and counseling with respect to many problems seniors encounter regarding Medicare, supplemental health insurance and long-term care options.

      The Nevada Medicare SHIP Program provides services in the following areas:

      • Information on eligibility and benefits for Medicare programs including enrollment in a Part D, prescription drug benefit plan, general Medicare coverage and limitations. To enroll in Medicare contact the Social Security Administration.

      • Assistance with claims, requests for reconsiderations, and appeal processes for Medicare and Supplemental Insurance (Medigap). To view the current Medigap comparison guide, click here.

      • Volunteer Counselors can help determine health insurance needs and provide unbiased information to assist the consumer in making informed decisions about their health and long-term care insurances.

      • Outreach information to seniors and their families through meetings, seminars, classes, health fairs, senior fairs and the media.

      • Referrals to other state and community services.  Anyone needing help with Medicaid eligibility should contact the Nevada State Division of Welfare and Supportive Services.

        Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit

        Your next chance to sign up for a Medicare Part D plan is October 15 - December 7. If you sign up, your prescription drug coverage will begin the following January 1. (Certain beneficiaries are eligible to enroll in a plan before November, call SHIP for more information.)
