Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)

1. Are there safety issues regarding the purchase of prescription drugs from Canadian pharmacies?

SAFETY STARTS WITH YOU

    • As a user of prescription drugs, you need to make sure you are well informed about the drugs you are taking. Be a smart consumer. Know as much as you can about the drugs prescribed for you. Know the dosage amounts you are taking and how often you should take each drug.

      • If the prescribed dosage changes or you are given a new prescription, make sure your doctor and pharmacist know about every prescription you are taking. It’s easy to avoid problems that could result from drug interaction if you talk first with your pharmacist.

        • Ask questions about your prescription. If you have symptoms after you start taking a new medicine, tell your doctor or pharmacist right away.

It may not be safe to purchase prescription drugs from online or mail order pharmacies if you are not sure where the pharmacy is located, whether it is licensed, whether licensed pharmacists are filling your prescription, and whether the drugs you order are coming from a pharmacy at all.

The Canadian pharmacies listed on this website have been inspected and licensed by this State. The pharmacies listed on this website must operate according to Nevada law and are subject to investigation like any other pharmacy licensed by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy. Numerous requirements regarding the drugs that may be shipped are included under Nevada laws, including a requirement that the licensed pharmacy only dispense drugs drawn from its own inventory.

              2. Is it legal to buy prescription medicines from Canadian pharmacies

According to the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau, purchasing prescription drugs from the Canadian pharmacies listed on this website and licensed by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy does not violate Nevada law; however, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken the position that the purchase of prescription drugs from outside of the United States may be illegal under federal law. The FDA maintains that reimporting into the United States prescription drugs originally manufactured in the United States is a violation of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and importing drugs made in other countries violates the act if the drug is not approved by the FDA or if it does not meet all FDA approval requirements. 3. What other options can I consider in trying to lower the cost of my prescription medication?

Nevada has developed other programs to assist its residents on fixed incomes with the high cost of prescription drugs. While ordering prescription drugs through Nevada licensed Canadian operations is one option, Nevadans may also seek assistance with the costs of their prescription drugs through programs such as Senior Rx and RxHelp4NV.org. Senior Rx provides assistance with Medicare Part D expenses for members who ARE eligible for Part D and a cost-sharing benefit for members who are NOT eligible for Part D. RxHelp4NV.org connects qualified, low-income people with discount prescription drugs, direct from the pharmaceutical manufacturer.

In addition, patients should consult with their physicians and pharmacists concerning options for using generic drugs, which – in some cases – might even cost less than drugs available through Canadian pharmacies.

You may also wish to contact your state and federal representatives with questions or for assistance with any actions by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

                  4. Will more Canadian pharmacies be added to this site?

If more Canadian pharmacies are licensed by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy, they will also be listed.
