Office of Community Living (OCL)
The Office of Community Living is dedicated to empowering individuals to live independently within
their communities. We offer a variety of supportive services and programs for older adults, people
with physical disabilities, as well as family caregivers. By providing these essential home and
community-based services, we help ensure that Nevadans have the support they need to enjoy a
high quality of life while maintaining independence in their home and community.
The Office of Community Living includes four sections: Intake & Operations, Supportive Services, Community Services and Planning.
Intake and Operations:
The Intake and Operations section is responsible for working closely with the Division of Healthcare Finance and Policy (DHCFP) to conduct operational activities of two Medicaid waivers: Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver for the Frail Elderly and the HCBS Waiver for Persons with Physical Disabilities. As the Operating agency for these waivers, this team performs initial eligibility assessments and determinations. This team also supports various operational tasks associated with the waivers including participation in the amendment and renewal process with DHCFP.
Supportive Services:
This section provides state funded home and community-based services for older adults and people with disabilities, as well as case management for the HCBS Waiver for Frail Elderly and the HCBS Waiver for Persons with Physical Disabilities. In addition to these supports, this section houses the Communication Access Services program, supporting individuals who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Speech Impaired.
Community Services:
This section provides funding and support to community partners to offer a variety of services to individuals throughout Nevada. Services include Nutrition Services for Older Adults, Transportation, Caregiver Support, Homemaker, and much more.
Planning:
This section is focused on strategic planning and innovations to expand services to all ADSD populations. This section works closely with our advocacy bodies, the community at large, and various partners to improve access to services and pilot new services.
